An open space for global conversation
Friends of Occupy Everywhere,
We are on our OWN in regards to the "illusion of political choice" in this mountain of American bullshit surrounding us. I must need medication because I still have some romantic notion that American's actually care, when if fact, they don't even care about one another and the principle diet in their obesity is "Eat Each Other" in…

What do we do next? The question for revolutionaries in North America is to figure out how to activate the anaesthetized. But why are we anaesthetized?
There is a realization, at least to some extent, that we are the ones responsible for the global ills; the reification of individualism and the exporting of capitalism and ‘democracy’, yet the vast majority of people are too ‘comfortable’ to do anything more than nod their head when presented with the…

As a local Occupy organizer I am focused on the evolution of Occupy. Our local Occupy group is a progressive and spiritually conscious group made of mostly of Unitarian Universalists and Unity members along with a healthy representation from the local ACLU and a local women's organizations. We are not so much into “occupying” as much as collaborating and co-creating. It seems dissent raises…

Little sketch here for your review and comments.
Every living organism has a biological imperative to sustain itself in its environment and to reproduce. Organisms may survive through domination or symbiosis. Either way, a critical point is reached in time. In symbiosis, stasis may be reached and this may subject the organism to dangerous competition. If dominance is the chosen method, then the organism will run out of resources and harm the host or…

We Americans are not the best at history. Because of the spin of corporate-controlled media, we are not reminded of the consistent pattern of deception exhibited by our government when the ‘power behind the wheel’ wants a new conflict. Nor are we reminded of the tremendous profitability of war for the corporations who count on…

Hello,
I have been involved in foreclosures for the past five years, I fought for my house and I won my case in court. I can shed some light on this mortgage mess; Modifications do not work, the most important aspect of modification is the fact that the borrower has to give up certain rights that are very valuable.
Protect your rights.
The better issue is Principal Reduction and Interest rate reduction, Wells Fargo does not own the loans, the…

OWS had an OCCUPY Brookfield Properties rally yesterday, I gather in the winter garden at the Financial Center. Both the atrium and Zuccoti Park are owned by Brookfield Properties whose board Mayor Bloombergs long time girfreind, Diana Taylor sits on. She gets paid $109,000 to attend 8 meetings a year and......dare we imagine..exert influence with the Mayor. Brookfield currently owes the City $139,000 in back taxes.
A huge police force met the 100 or so Occupy Brookfild…

How can each of us fit into the new socio-economic paradigm that is approaching? Is the Occupy movement and current global conversation just a fad, or is there something deep within all of us that recognizes the vital importance of world-wide change from a culture driven by 'self interest' to one of giving to others, sacrificing one self in the interest of others?
These current concerns are NOT a fad. They have been with humanity throughout history, before the evolution of Homo…

Occupy Movement: Next Step Convergence
Joel S. Hirschhorn
There is a growing convergence of thinking about where the US Occupy movement should go as a next step to turning its values, concerns and commitments into changing what most Americans see as broken government under control of corporate interests. When it comes to political and social movements, history shows us that they usually fail not because they disappear, but rather because they become marginalized, unimportant…

Just minutes ago on What's Up With Chris Hayes ( MSNBC) there was an absolutely fabulous "salon" discussion on Occupy "outing" certain dems whose politics , habits and votes undermine and betray the 99% as much as republican votes.
The "salon" pointed out that its good for reform and cleaning up of the entire electoral process to have OCCUPY performing this role of shining a light on everything that is broken..who is responsible for that..and these kinds of actions by OCCUPY will get…

First draft. Text will evolve according to feedback...
What do we hear when we listen to the forgotten U.S. nation-wide End the Fed movement in 2008, which sparked the TeaParty movement, or to the so-called…

Peter pointed me to this one from
Edgar Cahn, ‘I think we’re learning that money isn’t what we thought it was, that bankers aren’t what we thought they were, and that the monetary system is not enabling us to get to where we need to get to,’ he says. ‘Money that depends upon repayment of interest requires that we have to keep producing more and more in a world that’s having to learn how to become sustainable.’
And this,
"For while the market economy locks out those not…

I realize what I am about to post may not seem directly related to the Occupy movement - BUT for me it is.
This morning I watched a video, "No More Shooting and Crying" that affirms all that I think about why war and military occupation is not the answer.
I appreciate that these young people in Israel have found a way to share the message of what war and military occupation…

An Open Letter to The People and The Media:
A Voice From Occupy Wall Street and Tea Parties Worldwide
All over the world, people are tired of waiting for their government leaders to make the necessary changes that are promised year after year. While we try to remain optimistic about our future, some of us are frustrated, some are understandably angry, and we all hunger for change. Change is at the heart of the Occupy Wall Street and Tea…

If you have not seen this interview, I invite you to watch it. It did a nice job I thought of explaining some of the attributes of the Occupy movement - and the differences from the Tea Party -

Does anyone else find it notable that people showing up here in the Occupy Café are mainly older? The Occupy Wall Street movement was started by young people. There are a few things we might keep in mind about these members of a generation that have either finished college, dropped out, are under-employed or unemployed. A large number are working in jobs that do not utilize the skills they pursued in school. They are delayed in career development. They are living at home or with their…
