inventory is like taking stock - what resources are committed to the movement - in people, time, cars, technology, plane flights? ideas that are working - where are they from an implementation point of view?  for example - the ISO 26000 is a resource - it needs to be implemented to have value.  so we establish a university to implement it - homeplanet virtual university, we look for technology solutions to drive the implementation - TWIT .TV   - I am not certain that it is a resource - but it may be if used properly.  - Jerry Ashton's 15 minutes of Fact - is that a resource?  or not.

the occupy movement still needs people at the leadership level to orchestrate inventory taking - or have I missed your point.

Thanks for catching that in the link, Janos. Not sure what you mean, Mitch. Inventory as in business accounting? Resources as in...?

Good to see this site waking up!

The direct link to the resilience report does not work (a space is included at the end). This should work: http://www.postcarbon.org/publications/weaving-crne/

by the way - does any one have a sophisticated  - ie digitally designed - inventory or resource program that they can recommend?

I do not.  I do however have a design in mind.

has anyone got one now.?

Hi Ben, Janos, Brian and others.

I am writing in response to the great suggestions being made, and to that effect it is good to know where we are now - today.   Today is such an important day for so many reasons.  Start with this communication to the instigators of the Occupy movement - actually taking stock.   Well if today is stock day you may also care to know that it is United Nations Day, and in 2008  we were  involved with the instigation of the Campaign for the Heart of Africa which has been ongoing for those six years, and today is also being celebrated as the Global Oneness Day.   Let Globaloness day be the day that we actually formally accepted a process program that might be actualized using the technology of our day and do it as part of our stocktaking!

so what is your inventory look like?

let's share the up to the moment messages that we each carry.

Peace

Mitchell Gold

Sounds like a plan! Did I send you this link, by the way, to a report I co-authored as part of a larger dialogic engagement I was a part of this year? http://www.postcarbon.org/publications/weaving-crne/ ;

Hello Ben,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I would like to take part in a "reunion". Take stock of where we are; do a "post mortem" on where we have been; think about where we should be going as "activists" (thinking, learning, talking can be activism).

Comment by Ben Roberts on October 24, 2014 at 8:56am

Hi Janos! This site is essentially a record of the work we did for sixteen months, from October 2011-Jan 2013. That said, it's still technically "functioning," as our exchange demonstrates. I just don't think anyone is paying attention to it. Maybe we should have a "reunion?!"

Comment by Janos Abel on October 12, 2014 at 10:20am

Is this web site still functioning?

Perhaps you'd know how best to notify others or post this effectively as time is running short.  It's about a free, 4 day, Soul Retreat for Men who are dedicated & working for social justice.  It is located near Raleigh, NC. Thanks Dyck

~~ Friends! We have spots left for Soul Sanctuary for Men, Oct 24-28, with our very own Tahz Walker as facilitator/guide. Does someone you know need a respite? And for FREE????

I received the following information in an email from mail@occupycafe.org but when I clicked on the links there was no comment from Lucia Edward to be found nor could I find such a person in your membership.  Wondering what was up with that??

Sook--we are very interested in ways to get our conversations happening "on the ground" (i.e. in person) as well as in virtual space.  I'll email you separately.

Just listened to Occupy A New Story. Maybe it's coincidence, but I am working on a 20-panel business card sized guide called "Growing Into A New Story". The card will be like two others I recently published. Both are on the internet too. Occupyws.net and movetoamend.us This card will be designed as a guide for ongoing support groups striving to grow to become the world they want to see. (These are open space sessions (like the men's support groups I helped design 30 years ago and are still going strong. We still meet every week. If you are interested, we could stay connected. Sook

its early days for me as a new member but I'm gaining a very distinct impression that this site and the people who interact with each other in the spaces it makes available . .

Rocks!

Welcome, James!

Not sure what the upload issue is re: your iPad.  I'm guessing you checked the formatting of your photo so that it's web ready.  You might check directly with Ning support...or upload from your computer.

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
