An open space for global conversation
"From what I heard today during Vital Conversations, the non violent communication process appears to sustain lack and limitation."
The most important part of that statement comes before the comma. We didn't get far into it, in the little time available.
Nonviolent communication welcomes and sustains what would make life more wonderful, beginning by (finally) listening without judgment to (increasingly to the point) expressions of needs unmet.
I think of NVC not as a technique, but as a foundation for a new culture.
We run into an interesting dilemma week to week. A majority of people have expressed that their ideal call duration is 2 hours, yet we tend to come up a bit short on process time. 3 hours would allow for more in-depth process, though it seems fewer people are available for that length a time on a regular basis.
One popular suggestion to solve this issue is to have a series of weekly calls that builds on the one before so the context does not have to be continually reset, i.e. - having a call series on non-violent/compassionate communication.
Regular Calls are no longer being held. Below is the schedule that was maintained from the Fall of 2011 through Jan 10, 2013.
Mondays
"Vital Conversations"
8-10a PDT | 11a-1p EDT | 3-5p GMT
Tuesdays (except 10/16)
"Connect 2012"
1-3p PDT | 4-6p EDT | 8-10p GMT
