Welcome to our special guest David Philip Edwards.
Jitendra met David Philip Edwards at the Occupy Marin general assembly this past Saturday when he rode up on his bicycle towing a trailer full of camping gear. A man with a long and storied activist past and present, David had been acting as a medic at Occupy Santa Fe, New Mexico before coming to the west coast. He recently made a trek by bicycle from Oregon down to the San Francisco Bay area to lend his medical assistance at occupy zones in need.
I could have easily spent the day listening to David's stories blending the unlikely combinations of Vietnam war draft resister and social activist taking classes on nonviolent protesting in 1968 from Joan Baez and traveling the world as a war correspondent and field surgeon. David traveled to Hanoi as a peace delegate, Northern Ireland on civil unrest, Spain on the Basques and Chile looking for the disappeared under Pinochet...
David has wonderful insights into the history of the causes #Occupy currently stands for. There is a great deal of wisdom to be gleaned from those that beat down the very paths today's occupiers seek to open.
