So after getting back from a long tour during which I visited 18 Occupations in the US and Canada, I got home to Portland and spent a day at Big Red Studio with a bunch of stellar local musicians making a professional recording of my latest song, one for the Occupy movement, which has been well-received at the encampments and other places where I've sung it (as well as with the version I recorded on my iPhone and put up on YouTube).

Please share the song, send it to anybody you know who's involved with any kind of media or Occupy organizing, use it for fundraising, sing it yourself, etc. In terms of singing it yourself, it's easy -- 3 chords and the truth; D, A, and G... The lyrics are here as well as the MP3, or streaming versions if you prefer:

Hope to see you soon at an Occupy near you! More on my ongoing Occupy Tour, latest CD, etc. at www.davidrovics.com.

P.S. Getting really good recordings made ain't cheap. I spent over $1,000 on recording this one song, and that's how it goes... Your donations are welcome.

P.P.S. Lisa Fithian and other great organizers have written a very important Open Letter to the Occupy Movement. I agree with every word:

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think.
