What lever can Occupy use to move the world?

There are millions sharing the lever: experience + understanding. Unluckily it is floating in the vacuum of the prevailing illusory worldview. IMHO our problem is the fulcrum.

1. Excessive leverage is the source of the global financial crisis (although banks are not eager to present it this way). The fulcrum obviously is global financial system, rooted in human nature, measuring values in currencies. To define Occupy as fulcrum it should establish logic of the new lever (alternative system of values, coming from inner experience?).

2. I do not feel authorized to address decision making (your other thread today), but I can share my experience here. Decision making is the process, to be effective it must be oriented, integral and constant. I have proposed logic + asynchronous communication to assure this, but nobody is interested. Jittendra sees OC activity as ping pong with impressions and hopes something must emerge. Maybe he is right, but certainly this something will not be directly the common and effective decision making system

My nature often causes me to think about leverage, bang for the buck, getting advantage, economies of scale.

Then in comes my dualistic world with thoughts of the sublime... the kind act, the smile, the anonymous gift...love.  The power of these to change of society is so very contagious and delightful, no?  Yet, these are unpretentious... not aimed at solving problems at all, but rather focused on the innocence of beauty and happiness.

Perhaps I can speak for the many, myself included... 'the sublime is too slow to make real change, to solve real problems.  We must figure this out and force something to happen, now!'  Have I got it right?

The sublime manifests itself in the individuals - there is no common "space" where it can become a process, feeding back to individuals and accelerating exponentially. It dies with its carrier - the body.

The real problems are the products of the (positive) feedback - bang for the buck, grow advantage, increase scale, bang for more bucks, maximize advantage  etc. etc., 5 000 years, and now the bucks "bang" without control...the sublime individuals are depersonalized objects of the market game.

The sublime is not to be forced, the force is not to be sublimed... by definitions.

Does it help to figure out? Or start figuring?

Well, the text is there and can be reached linking back to the page - I am not a programer to explain the phenomenon

Yes, TRUE inquiry is difficult because I seem to have this human propulsion to jump toward 'knowing' or having 'the answer'. Answers and knowing and impatience are antithetical to inquiry.  Inquiry calls on the higher self... not the small self-interested audacious disillusion self.

Finding the right question or questions are essential, no?  And it takes a lot of work.  For what good are solutions to problems that don't really exist or answers for which there are no real questions?  This is of such high import to me I'm willing to give it the time it needs in active attention.

I wish to have a right question inform me, pull me up to it... I don't wish to pull a question down & make it fit my limited world of illusion.

It seems you aren’t any more interested in my vanishing text, but now I take it as technical challenge in view of ning environment to make it appear. This time I pasted it back to word before posting and wonder if it helps

I would like however to reply also your most recent posts concerning question(s?), organization, action. My already 5 years’ experience exploring American social networking makes me ponder more and more with the question below, as replacing the question asked all over the web: who WE are?

I think it is more dynamic, so more appropriate to discuss change.

What is our role in the play of Universe? Does the role evolve?

  • Most people believe (or want to believe) there is such a role, so it is a good way to organize.
  • If the role is definable there is only one definition (or its best approximation available), so the answer may be a forceful statement.
  • From the POV of possible action:  To re-define our role - in present, upon the experience of the past – is an action by itself. The goal – if achieved – would automatically become the starting point of future action – playing the re-cognized role...

P.S. to my post above:

I venture to suggest my question  could be also related to "collective emergence" proposed in the link by Doreen, yesterday. Would you agree?

Sea, I am sorry that I am not able to keep up with you.  I surely cannot get past your first para above... nor your various assumed definitions. I am sorry... I'm so lost I don't even know what to ask you.  I do respect that you are on an ernest journey, and I sense lots of energy coming from you.

You should know this about me.  I do not personally give any particular credence to any of the sciences.  In fact I'm suspicious of them.  So am unimpressed with the use of math and physics in dialogue as they seem usually to be used to promote an image of high intelligence.  Although I like the use of 'plain' talk I find I am myself frequently guilty of image building... but I'm trying to quit!

Thank you. You may have uncovered a hidden prejudice of mine that considers talk using science terminology a disguise to hide a lack of openness or adventurous inquiry, or maybe even fear of dealing directly with the emotional or spiritual. I realize this makes it particularly difficult for me to muster the energy to truly listen to others.... as I really really wish to do.

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
