The Occupy Movement has been hugely occupying my life for some time now.  In big ways our movement in an integration of many of the things I feel the greatest passion for.  I am drawing in and bringing together so much with my participation in this massive global conversation.  I wake up in the morning ready to jump in. It is often what I am thinking about as I fall asleep at the end of the day.

I often find myself asking myself: "How can I be involved as I am drawn to be and still be fully taking care of my immediate personal life?"  There is so much Direct Action to be taken close to home also.

I would be interested in hearing what others are discovering about staying in balance and keeping all the bases covered as we work towards co-creating the possibilities we have seen for so long.

Bruce,

Thanks for your thoughtful and fruitful insight.

I call it "putting on the mind of the 99%"

The practice of that, supported by this and other discussions about what that means, has honed a closer alignment between my values and my actions; it has changed what I search for, chnaged what I see, changed how I live into the wolrd from my values..

I believe very strongly in the recurring theme that change begins with us, begins at home, begins at our dining room tables and in our neighborhood.

I have started to make more time to monitor what bills are before state and federal legislatures, to monitor good ideas that are emerging and  to be more vigilant  on actions that feed and grow income disparity and control by the 1%.  I am taking more time to "hold up"and actively support the good things that are trying to emerge through e-letters to my own elected officials, e-letters to folk who are initiating these good ideas through my facebook..and maybe soon through my blogs. Two recent examples:(REP).Tammy Baldwin is introducing a resolution opposing immunity from criminal liability for banks that caused the collapse of the mortgage market; Chellie Pingree (D,Maine) is about to introduce  a bill that would provide more support and incentive for local organic growing.

I have always been a "policy wonk" not a "politico"; an "advocate" not a spreader of ideology or getter of votes for one party or another so I haven't engaged in "politics".Putting on the mind of the 99% I now see that it is both possible and necessary to be fully engaged in the legisilative process; fully in touch with what is being brought forward for consideration...not just preaching that..doing that

Another personal change is that I am spending more time in community forums..trying to bring the tone and ideas we are supporting here to that process, trying to be an instrument of peace, an instigator of co-intelligence ..starting with what is bringing people together in the community, trying to bring many voices to those meetings rather than creating a separate agenda., trying to cultivate, by example, the habit of "co-intelligence"

"Putting on the mind of the 99%: has opened up a whole new lens on the world.

A very exciting and fruitful process "putting on the mind of the 99%".

What changes has it brought about for you?

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More

Leadership Ecology

When a Leadership Ecology occurs, a web of relationships emerges revealing each person’s authentic leadership qualities through the transfer of their power to others. When done in a conscious way – a shared collaborative awakening happens.See More
