Holiday Mixer!

It's... The Occupy Cafe HOLIDAY MIXER!!!

TONIGHT (Wednesday, December 28th)

3-6pm PST / 6-9pm EST / 11pm-2am GMT.

Drop in at any time -- hang out for as long as you wish!

Join us for a "meet and greet" Cafe Call with the emphasis on fun, laughs, general merry making and well-deserved CELEBRATION of all that the Occupy movement has accomplished.

Come make some new friends: hang out with others who have been active or inspired by this movement.  Share and listen to stories, jokes, etc. or just chat and get to know each other a bit better.  A grand time is guaranteed for all!

How the call will work: We'll be using MaestroConference's breakout group feature extensively. You will be in small groups for most of each hour, with a chance to shuffle the groups frequently and meet new people, as well as the option to stay in the conversation you're having if it you think you're about to get lucky!  We'll also come together as a full group once an hour to hear the best jokes, stories, etc.

Please invite friends and acquaintances who have been involved in or inspired by the movement, especially if they've got some talent to share.  We're also collecting an inventory of fun questions to pose during the call, so if you have some clever ideas, please share them with us via a comment on this page, below.

We hope to "see you" on the call.  Drop in any time and stay as long as you like.  Ain't nothin' like a party!

"Over 700 people who were part of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations were arrested this past weekend in New York when they tried to block traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge. Because there's nothing people on Wall Street hate more than not being able to get to Brooklyn." –Seth Meyers

‎"The 'Occupy Wall Street' movement has basically been a four-week downtown Manhattan live-in, which has spread to cities all around the country, causing the media to move its coverage dial from 'Blackout' to 'Circus.'" –Jon Stewart

More #Occupy humor:

"This Occupy Wall Street movement is now in 1,500 places all around the world. I was at the Occupy Beverly Hills today. It's two Jews at Starbucks complaining that the scones aren't fresh, but still it's a start." –Bill Maher

"Now there's a pushback movement (against Occupy Wall Street). There's a group called the 53%. These are the people who say 47% don't pay any federal taxes (yeah, because they're f**king broke). The 53% say they barely get by, but they don't blame the banks. Their slogan is, 'Let's bend over and take it, America!'" –Bill Maher

Our intention with this mixer is to "meet" as many of you as possible, especially those who have not yet joined in a cafe call.  We'd love to hear your voice!  We are here at Occupy Cafe because we know just how precious your voice is.

The more we share our stories: our successes, our pain, our trials and our visions; the closer we come to recognizing that we're nearer than farther to making this world work for all.  Let's take this opportunity to connect and share without agenda...besides enjoying and appreciating the magnificent heart and spirit this movement is demonstrating.

Holiday Blessings to All

Originally, I posted this cartoon, but Jitendra told me it wasn't in the proper spirit of Christmas healing, so I took it down...

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
