Welcome to Occupy Cafe, Sandy!  I'm intrigued by your saying that what draws you here is that you "want to do whatever is possible to support the people movement to empower and make this again a free country with a government by the people for the people - rather than by corporations for corporations."

What is showing up for you now in terms of "whatever is possible?"  We just finished our Monday Vital Conversation in which the subject of action was a theme (you can check out some of the harvest here, and a podcast will be available soon as well).  An insight that emerged for me on the Call was the distinction between a kind of urgently driven action that feels energizing and awakening versus other kinds that feel constricting and controlling.

We are striving to create a space here in the Cafe where our energies can build and be nurtured, so that the actions that emerge are grounded in a sense of community and in tending to relationships, at the same time that we contribute in powerful ways to the changes we all seek in the world, such as the creation of governments and economies that are owned by and serve the needs of The People.

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
