Someone who understands that the world stands on a precipice both environmentally and economically. Someone who will say no to big money and choose to do what is right rather than what is easy. Someone who will be truthful. Someone who will make good jobs a priority rather than catering to the wealthy. Someone who realized the US Military is equal in power to everywhere else on earth put together.  Someone who will remember where the wealth of the country really lies. In it's people. That is what makes a country great and a wonderful place to live. Throwing the country into poverty is really not a good way to go economically either.

Thank you!  Anyone else?  I'm trying to get a feel for what folks here are looking for in a 'problem solver' as an elected official.

Hey David,

 

Although questions have been raised about its purpose, motives and intent, Americans Elect has a very intriguing questionnaire on just this subject that has been completed by over 2 million people so far.  They purport to be about choosing candidates for office through a "we the people" process ( although they are looking to become a party.)

 

They didn't ask all questions in a way I approve of  but still it gives great insight and promisese more consuensus thatn I was aware of on many any issue sthat are very important to me. 

What you think of  their purpose  the surveys are intriguing.  

 

Even though I cannot bare to not be in sight of the ocean in every moment, my own answers tended to most match people in South Dakota!!!! Not sure what that means.

 

Interesting though.

 

It was also eye opening to go through each listed candidate..I was able to rule out many people I thought highly of.

Thanks Lindsay.  I am familiar with Americans Elect.  I believe it has some very positive aspects and some serious potential weaknesses, but that's a much longer post. :-)

I am more curious at this point about the specific views of core Occupy folks participating here. My question is more about my own self-education about Occupy than about trying to puzzle out the general public's consensus on candidates.

Oh Yes, I see. Sorry I did misread your post.

 

I have to say I though Obama was teh guy with evrything I never even dared hope for in a President.  I creid watching his inaugural.. I believed with all my heart.

I think what he walked into, the mess that Bush left behind after 8 years and the unfunded war that saddled us with this debt now. is beyind any President..and the emergence of the Tea Party a mystifying  event ( we the people voted this congres that we now disapprove of in)

 

Having said that if you are asking what is most important to me in a president?

 

truth

intergity

vision

character

enagement with the American people

a commitment to unwind the plutonomy and to radically change our central banking system our monetary policy, our commitment to regulate banks and financial markets

for a start
