An open space for global conversation
'Tax me' implies that they all believe that the existing grubbermint can spend their money better than they can. The fraud is in the school system that educated them all - which they wish to perpetuate, to their personal advantage. If they wanted to support people, they would not be millionaires, they would be employers (concept leap, don't get hung up here). Let's rethink the concept of work - the current system is unabashed slavery. If i had the freedom to pursue whatever i thought was important, i would be right where i am now, doing what i am doing - occupying a system that is blatantly unfair. It says it rewards people who play by the rules, but the rules change, so when you play by the rules, you never win. Jon Corzine wins.
No - the whole concept of economics is shot - at least through what we have now. Let's set up some education system that allows people to hold different perspectives about the same things without one having to be wrong. Let's set up a system where externalized costs are zero - an the commons doesn't take a hit because it is not represented. Fish in Oregon have water right going back to 1987. The system common sense is not common - these millionaire guys could establish a fund to allow people like us to tap into, while we explore ideas that are counter-intuitive and build new institutions to replace the bulk failures of the institutions that currently exist based on this fabricated monetary system (which bails out banks while foreclosing on our homes).
The important thing is that we each represent ourselves and not feel we are part of artificial groups battling each other. We understand that one size cannot fit all, but we are locked in a one way system that has lemming follow over the cliff written all over it. Let's not get upset, let's just not play. Everything will go local as the superstructure collapses, let's build several thousand local communities that are self-sufficient in what we can do, and establish new trade routes that emphasize this new economic model. Consider the Mondragon co-operative model from the Basque region of Spain as one idea amongst many, but let's consider different ideas.
Okay -end with a short spontaneous poem :
Had my say
again today
going to play
somewhere away
have a warm day
Very interesting comment Lemme. You might be interested in the Solutions section of the new film "Thrive." You can download it for $5 at http://www.thrivemovement.com It is a huge 2.5 hour film, covering a lot of material, but it is worth seeing.
