Bottom Line? The 1% is also using Gene Sharps non violent revolution strategy to bring the 1% into formal rule in America as President and Vice President for the 1%.  Americans Elect is really the real world implementation of founder Peter Ackerman's book.  Their agenda?

Well, they hope to elect Ron Paul who believes that anything not specifically authorized by the consiution is illegal , you know things like Social Security, Medicare, the Anti-Poverty Program, Environmental Law; who wants to abolish the Fed not to reform our Central Bank system but to end all government interefrence in wealth and wealth formation, who wants to overturn Roe V Wade.

This article lays out a bit about Peter Ackerman http://maidhcocathail.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/the-junk-bond-%E2%80...

What I have learned is that the tools of non violent reevolution are value neutral..they are tools that can be used effecitively to finish the coup the 1% have nearly achieved in America or to initiate change that we in the 99% movement seek.  Independents are not all good guys..some like Eliot Cutler here in Maine ( a key figure in Americans Elect) are part of the corporatocracy seeking to take final and complete control .

Americans Elect is on the ballot in 11 states and the results of their efforts are headline news in Iowa.

The plan is clear..it is to attract a majority of independent voters who were key to Obama's win in 2008 and to strip off enough votes from the anger of the 99% movement as just blind votes for change to elect a president and vice president dedicated to serve the 1%.

Americans Elect is clearly 100% counter to what we in the 99% movement seek and it appears it is possible for them to use the anger and disappointment  awakemded by the OWS movementto their advantage  in delivering a final and complete victory for  the 1% in  America.

Who does OWS serve in not taking a more constructive  and intentional role in completing the transfer of anger into informed civic action.?

If OWS insists on its noble "no program haunches", it hands America over to the 1%.

Kevin,

I have nothing further to sayo the original intention of Americas Elect, Reason FFoundationn et al to put  Ro Paul forawrd and I think they are now questioning that and looking to the other ":lead trackers" at the AE web site, Rick Santorum and the Lousianna guy ( whose name escapes me atthis exact moment).  If you go the web sites of any of these top trackers at AE its all the same as a plat form.so idnetical it is hard to see ay distinctionn at all.  So mahbe it would be corret to say AE has a very clear annd obviously discernible agenda and it is the exact opposite of whatthe 99% movement seeks ad believes in.

Still very eager to hear your clarificationn of what a "progressive" is.  Whata progressive believes is good for america..what a "progressive" would deliver to t he 99% legislatively, constituionally?   What "progressive" values Obama threw under the bus?

More to the poinnt, given your commets to date here, do you see AE as represnting and advancing these "progressive" values?

Then there is no proof that AE "hopes to elect Ron Paul", or any other candidate. Nor is there proof that AE has a clear plan "to attract a majority of independent voters who were key to Obama's win in 2008".

As I said before, I do not trust AE because of who is funding their political party. Further than that, I do not know what their plans are, but would not be surprised if it was revealed that they only want to benefit a very few minority within the upper 1%.

Other than an overwhelming dissatisfaction with our federal government and the direction in which they are taking America, I have yet to see any poll that clearly shows what the 99% want.

The only comment I will make about progressives, is that they are not just the product of the Democratic Party. This is only a modern phenomenon. Some of our greatest progressives have been Republicans. Just ask Teddy Roosevelt.

If you want to know more about progressives, then here is a much greater authority than me on the subject:

Kevin & all..here is a fascinating and completely different take on Americans Elect..don't know the blogger but there are some interesting observations here:

http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/americans_elect_obamas_third...

One of his arguements is that AE is a vehicle with no riders.  That may be true but many here me included have said that what we need is a vehicle for non party non partisan workings in the elctoral process..which is what AE claims to be.  IfI believed it was that or could be that I would be thrilled

Another of his arguemets is that third parties arise from natural coalition of interests with a well defined point of view on governance and priorities..in other words that as a Political Party  which AE is already in 13 states and seeks to be in all 50 it is not valid as an empty vessel  with no stated poinnt of view.  I am not sure I agree with that...but without a response to that at this moment

Most interesting of all is his idea that Ackerman, founder and $5 million initial funder of AE has not abadoned Obama after all but  is setting up an intentional "fly paper" for the uninformed and easily manipulated middle with the iintent of keeping this muddled uninformed center out of the two party vote process which will leave the competition  and determination to regular party politics minus the muddled middle and give Obama a small victory.  To that arguement I say..that's very interesting and possibly correct.

Fascinating all of it

Lindsay - here is another group that represents independent voters : http://www.independentvoting.org

They were created with the fall-out from the Perot movement.  I personally question all political systems - but we are looking for something, so this conversation proceeds.

Hi Lemme ( love the bunny..don't have onne now but have had several who won my heart)

Thanks for the link to independent voting..I see we don't have one here in Maine..we have One Maine which is headed by Eliot Cutler also a key figure in  Americas Elect.  inedpendent voting looks more like what I was hoping for.

I would be really interested to know whether you have any take on Americans Elect?

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
