The unlimited detention provisions, now approved by the senate and to be signed into law by the president, apparently originated with  a pentagon plan to organize a military miltia of 20,000 on U.S. soil to quell civil  unrest in the event of complete economic collapse...to have the troops available and trained in crowd control.

( we have already seen that employed against Occupy protestors all over the country...so far only police but as I have written at the blog on London Occupy being declaed a terrorist organization, police prepardeness for crowd control is apparent in their dealing with Occupy protestors)

Here is some of what  the act provides:

http://theintelhub.com/2011/12/16/indefinite-detention-bill-passes-...

an article on senate approval of unlimited detention  language ..can’t vouch for the source but his “mapping “ of this issue and also of the key corporate players behind it is persuasive and strikes me as credible.

“ Under the Act, those suspected of “belligerent” crimes can be subjected to the treatment.

Graham tried to calm fears by insisting that suspected criminals will all be allowed a day in federal court, but made it clear that as long as a judge deems someone a suspect in a crime, that indefinite detention can begin without the help of any legal counsel for the defense.

“How long can you hold them? As long as it takes to make us safe,” said Graham.

The senator added that, “when you join the enemy…we aren’t worried about how we’re going to prosecute you right away.” Because of this, Miranda Rights should not be read to suspected criminals and additionally the right to an attorney is also suspended under the act.”

I think it is time for an absoutely massive, very peaceful, very dignified march on washington to protest this act and calling on the president to send it back with language that makes it very clear that the act is not be used against protestors and is only intended to be used in the event of widespread rioting .  I didn't see any coverage at all yesterday of the big rally that was supposedly called.

I haven't seen the actual bill.  Does anyone know whether theer is any language in it that gives assurance it will not be used to arrest Occupiers..?

Occupy may be the target as they are a threat to the Government! Can not trust Obama! They will use Occupy when it suits the Democrats.I'm concerned over the communist involvement..what do you think?

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
