Hi everyone, 

So glad to see a spirited discussion taking place here!  

For this project, I continue to prefer to focus on a concept that has the power to unite humanity, without mention of "party lines" or the 99%.  My concern is that bringing attention to division and difference will only reinforce it.  In my own work and evangelism in the world, I focus on reconnecting with life and working toward "thrivability."  To me, this is the ultimate common ground. 

Along those lines, here's the question I posted on a few relevant Facebook groups: "If you were to design a series of small group conversations as a learning journey guiding participants toward a shared, co-created vision of a transformed, thrivable economic system, what questions would you have them explore along the journey?"  Would love to know what this group (here) would suggest.

This will be a challenge - I live in a rural wilderness, with quite the independent and eccentric hermits for neighbors.  I'm certain though, that I would be well protected, if the conditions warranted it.  We do look out for one another; but I will talk up the folkmote idea, whenever it is appropriate.  Highest regards for the purpose of this group.

Rob - I think we are talking about the same conversation. Are you interested in the face to face component or mostly virtual?

From my perspective, neighborhood gatherings inherently cross party lines - I know my neighbors run the gamut of perspectives. My interest is absolutely transpartisan - my biggest fear is shutting this down with left leaning concessions that never get to the heart of the matter.

I also love the questions mentioned by Leslie and David that have the potential to mobilize people for local and direct action. 

As Ben mentioned, coordinating a virtual and face to face effort would be powerful. I think we need an organizing team and then invite folks from some other organizations that might help pull it off.

Thanks for reminding us Lindsay. I remember now of reading about the We the People dialogue efforts before:

I think it would be great if they would agree to help organize and host a series of "Neighborhood" calls on Occupy Cafe involving both Occupiers and We the People participants and folks from left, right, and center focusing on specific topics of interest to all. I believe Sharif talks and writes about the value of really listening to each other. It would be great if we could help the Occupy movement really become more representative of the full 99%. 

If we do this on Occupy Cafe first, then maybe it can begin to be done on the ground at Occupy sites and in the local communities around the Occupy Sites as well. 

I am particularly interested in focusing on what it would take to create a Sustainable America that engages people of all political persuasions. I am planning to start an eForum Discussion and Group on this topic here on Occupy Cafe when I can get to it. In the meantime please anyone let me know if you are interested.
