If one has a pulse, breathes and takes water and food, if one loves, if one has a thought of one's own right now and a conscience, one is a spirited, natural being, with potential for increasing intimacy with Life.

Especially in the last 400 years, much has been achieved through disregard of humanity - and through media, over the last 90 years - to prevent and dissolve that combination in most people, but it's not really far off.

The Crash Course by Chris Martenson

Transition in Action Social Network

Gandhi: "Satyagraha is a process of educating public opinion such that it covers all the elements of society and in the end makes itself irresistible."

Every man his own radical,

Every man his own Thinker,

every man his own ideals,

every man his own understudy

and his own actor when

the time for action comes --

that is the only basis for radicalism.

That is the only basis on which

the present order of society

will be changed.

What you see in my title has one meaning. What you hear in it has another. I will address both meanings.

If you are un- or underemployed, you would like, and may often dream of, a new, more authentic and secure foundation for living.  You would like, and may often dream of, giving your best in a setting characterized by individuals giving their distinctive bests.  You are very weary of reading and hearing that people are lazy, ignorant and indifferent, concerned primarily about how…

The Hopes of 3 Out of 4 for More Than Finger Pointing Are Fading

Lindsay Newland Bowker brought the fact of declining general public support for #Occupy to us yesterday in a status post that was soon off the site's front page.  She asked what it means.  My thought is in my title for this blog.

We live in a time that mixes confusion concerning wants and needs with profusion of offers to satisfy both.  Once someones complain or cry foul, people want to know…

What and How We Think of People: A Consequential Choice

Posted on October 31, 2011 at 10:30pm 6 Comments

In the USA and places with related cultures, the dominant paradigm (conception or view) of the human being is a negative one.  It was imposed and is sustained.  As a result of its ongoing influence, both expectations and hopes of humans, in general, are low.  While accepted etiquette prevents much direct and malicious disrespect, forms of What did you expect? and They'll change only at the last minute, or later! and You've got to…

Thank you David for your acknowledgement. I wonder sometimes with all this talking...is something "happening".  I'd love to hear the stories of how people are connecting and doing together what they can not do alone.  Just wondering :-) I look forward to many "happenings" that have yet to be revealed.

"Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street ... thoughts on Year One"

Fifteen years ago, I ran across a book, "100 Most Influential People in History," during one of my dalliances to my local Marin County bookstore. "Influential People" was one man's assessment on exactly that. But how he determined his rankings was the interesting part. They weren't always the reasons you would think. But after thinking about it, they made complete sense. For example:George Washington was ranked in the top 40 of all time. Understandable. But the reason why ... not so much. You…See More
