Hablamos de la Comunalidad

Hi friends,

I just wrote a blog about the concept of comunalidad (in indigenous societies of Southern Mexico) and how it ties into #Occupy. I won't repost the whole thing here, but you can check it out on the Berkana blog by clicking here.

Enjoy!

Handle Like-mindedness With Care

this is copied & pasted from the Transition in Action site (I commend it to you all):

"The like-mindedness we need most, that will encourage and build enduring relationships among people who haven't gotten together before, is along the lines of 'OMG, all our eggs are in one basket!' That's overlooked, not uncertain or controversial. The like-mindedness associated with positions in…

The Predicament of Passion

Does anyone else find it notable that people showing up here in the Occupy Café are mainly older? The Occupy Wall Street movement was started by young people.  There are a few things we might keep in mind about these members of a generation that have either finished college, dropped out, are under-employed or unemployed. A large number are working in jobs that do not utilize the skills they pursued in school. They are delayed in career development.  They are living at home or with their…

What's Next for #OWS?

Tom Atlee’s most recent comments about the emerging developments born of the #Occupy movement read like a manifesto/roadmap for winter, 2011.

Yes, we are heading into winter and there are be occupations dead set on maintaining their claim to the commons they currently occupy. What comes to mind? Valley Forge? Why not? Although I have the luxury of not (yet) being one of those contemplating life outdoors in sub-zero temperatures, the…
